The event is free and open to the public.This presentation will provide important information on staying safe while living and recreating in bear country. Attendees will learn about bear biology\, ways to prevent conflicts\, and how to handle bear encounters. The event will feature inert bear spray demonstrations to help participants learn how to use bear spray safely and effectively.Montana is bear country\, and preparing ahead of time is one of the most effective ways to avoid conflicts. You can be "bear aware" by following these steps:- Carry bear spray and know how to use it.\n- Travel in groups whenever possible.\n- Make noise\, especially near streams or in thick vegetation where hearing and visibility are impaired. Most bears will avoid humans when they know humans are present.\n- Avoid carcass sites and concentrations of ravens and other scavengers.\n- Watch for signs of bears such as bear scat\, diggings\, torn-up logs and turned over rocks\, and partly consumed animal carcasses.\n- Keep attractants secured and follow all food storage regulations.For more information on bear safety\, click here.
