Please join us for our monthly luncheon for a program on BIG Thinking for Small Businesses.

How can Kalispell accelerate the investment in the downtown core area now that the timeline is set for removal of the railroad tracks?  That is the subject the Kalispell Chamber will take up at the Oct 17 luncheon program.  The presentation will feature the executive director of the Denver Urban Renewal Authority, Tracy Huggins.  Ms. Huggins will tell the story of the redevelopment of the Lower Downtown area of Denver through the ‘90s and ‘00s, considered one of the most successful recent downtown redevelopment examples in the western U.S.  Her presentation will cover challenges, successes, and steps a local community can take to accelerate growth, investment, and jobs in a downtown urban renewal. 

Tracy Huggins, Executive Director, Denver Urban Renewal Authority
Tracy joined the Denver Urban Renewal Authority in October 1992 as controller, and oversaw the agency’s financial involvement in a number of significant redevelopment efforts. In 2000, Tracy was named Executive Director.  A certified public accountant, she came to DURA from Strait-Kushinsky, a Denver public accounting firm.  Ms. Huggins is on the boards of directors of Mountain States Employers Council, Gold Crown Foundation, Downtown Colorado, Inc, and the Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation, and is a 2001 graduate of the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.
