SUMMARY:Road Commissions and Logging Industry Meeting
DESCRIPTION:As the next step in continuing the discussions between county road agencies and the key industry groups in the Michigan timber industry\, Sen. Tom Casperson and various road and timber leaders have requested that we have another meeting. The meeting is set for \n\n \n\nFriday\, October 13\n\n9 a.m. to 12 noon\n\nVillage Inn\n\n250 N. State St.\, St. Ignace 49781\n\n \n\nThe Village Inn has a private room that can seat the 20 or so key players in this discussion that we anticipate. The St. Ignace location accommodates Sen. Casperson's schedule\, and we will be pleased to have him and Marty Fittante join us.\n\n \n\nThis meeting is another outcome of the May 2015 meeting in Senator Casperson's office\, where he challenged all parties to look for solutions that preserve local roads and safety\, while accommodating the current and expanding timber industry. Two of the groups (CRA and GLTPA) produced the white papers requested by Sen. Casperson\, and then met this past June 13 to begin to look for common ground upon which to build new understandings.\n\n \n\nWe look forward to having the Michigan Forest Products Council and Michigan Timbermen's Association join in this meeting\, and request that these groups' white papers please be sent to me by October 6\, at least a week in advance of the meeting. I will copy all white papers so that they are available at the meeting. We will also send out an agenda just ahead of the meeting.\n\n \n\nPlease RSVP to Cindie Dulaney of the CRA staff (517) 482-1189\, so we can ensure enough refreshments\, etc.
