The Duh! Approach To Management and Supervision: Dispelling Common Leadership Myths

This presentation dispels myths associated with effective leadership and provides common sense approaches that encourage high morale and productivity in the workplace. Attendees will leave with applicable skills that they can incorporate into their personal styles. Participants will be encouraged to assess and re-think commonly held beliefs about effective leadership. We will also touch on the so-called imposter syndrome and sharing power.

Flathead Area Young Professionals is open to all young professionals ages 21-39 and is FREE to Discover Kalispell Chamber members & their employees. Not a chamber member? Meet the speaker: 

Gerri King, Ph.D., social psychologist and organizational consultant, works with educational, healthcare, law enforcement & conservation officers, corporate, industrial, recreational, non-profit, and governmental clients throughout the United States and abroad. Gerri is also a facilitator and keynote speaker, presenting at numerous multinational, national, and regional conferences and seminars throughout the year. Dr. King’s training expertise includes – but is not limited to - a wide range of topics such as supervisory skills, team building, resolving conflicts and effective communication, motivating workforces, the dynamics of change, strategic planning, why people avoid success, creating blame-free and gossip-free environments, and the changing role of leadership. Gerri facilitates staff and executive retreats, departmental and cross-departmental conflict resolution efforts, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning sessions, and mission & vision development. Molly Wright is the Assistant Director of the Flathead Valley Community College Foundation, where she leads their fundraising events and annual giving campaign. She is passionate about the Foundation’s mission to support scholarships, programs, and facilities at FVCC and enjoys working with donors and community members to support FVCC students.  She has served on the FAYP Advisory Committee since June 2023 and she loves getting to organize fun events to meet local young professionals who are invested in the community. Molly enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her partner Dan and dogs Scooby and Arlo, where you can often find them hiking, skiing, camping, and gardening.
