2022 MFG Month - FLATHEAD TIMBER TOUR - 10/19 12:30-4:30pm

The Flathead Timber Tour is held annually during Montana Forest Products Week. The purpose of the Timber Tour is to invite the greater Flathead Valley community to learn about the value and importance of natural resources to our economy and quality of life. This year participants on the Timber Tour will learn about forest management from harvest to product production during a tour of Weyerhaeuser’s Kalispell lumber and plywood mills followed by a visit to an active logging operation. Participants will meet industry leaders from Weyerhaeuser, F.H. Stoltze Land and Lumber, and the DNRC-- together they will trace the product back from mill to the forest. Foresters will present on current and projected forest conditions, as well as active forest management objectives and sustainable harvest. They will meet the loggers and operators on an active site, discuss history and the advancing technology of mills, programs available, and how they as landowners can play a role in improving forest health while supporting local wood products industry. Participants will board a school bus that will depart from the Kalispell Chamber at 12:30pm sharp and arrive back between 4:30-4:45pm. Tour participants should bring snacks and water, wear closed-toe shoes, no loose clothes, long pants, and be dressed for the weather. Pre-registration is required and tour is limited to 45 people. Please arrive by no later than 12:15 to load the bus. Bus will leave at 12:30 sharp from the Kalispell Chamber. The Flathead Timber tour is sponsored by Weyerhaeuser, F.H.
