Chris is the 2023-2025 Montana Poet Laureate and the 2025 Montana Heritage Keeper honoree. His acclaimed memoir, Becoming Little Shell: A Landless Indian’s Journey Home was chosen as the 2025 Great Reads from Great Places Award for the state of Montana.
