A section of Flathead River closure extended for Sportsman's Bridge construction
KALISPELL – The closure of a section of the Flathead River from 20 feet upstream and 500 feet downstream of Sportsman’s Bridge on MT 82 has been extended to allow for completion of the installation of steel girders as part of the ongoing Sportsman’s Bridge project.
The closure will remain in effect until the construction is completed, and the department determines that the affected section of the Flathead River is again safe for waterway passage.
The closure applies to all motorized and non-motorized watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, rafts, and paddleboards. The Sportsman’s Bridge Fishing Access Site remains open during this time for boaters traveling southbound (downstream) on the river toward Flathead Lake.
